On 19 November 2010, HRH The Prince of Wales was at the Banqueting House in Whitehall to launch the first volume of his selected speeches translated into Arabic and edited by professor David Cadman & professor Suheil Bushrui.

The book launch was part of a day-long programme to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the British Lebanese Association which also included an exhibition of unique paintings. HRH The Prince of Wales met the key members of the Lebanese community in Britain and friends of Lebanon.

The exhibition included twelve paintings on the theme of “al-mahaba” which means “love” in English. Inspired by the work of the great poet Gibran Khalil Gibran, the paintings were jointly produced by Lebanon’s international artist Emmanuel Guiragossian and the renowned Lebanese calligrapher Mourad Boutros.

One of the paintings was donated by the artists to the charity auction held during the event and bidding soon reached US$14,500.

The paintings combine fine art with traditional Arabic calligraphy and are available at a range of prices from US$16,000 to US$24,000. Oil on canvas.100 cm height x 80 cm width. 2010.

Forthcoming Projects: New projects include a private commission for a series of paintings combining images of Arab horses with Arabic proverbs in traditional calligraphy.

Mourad is the author of the acclaimed books Arabic for Designers and Talking about Arabic. His work can be found in major institutions throughout the Arabic speaking world.
